CEROCLondonspinning
One of the questions I get asked all the time is what's the trick to spinning. I have therefore put together some tips to help you: Which Foot Always step on the foot of the direction of the spin. In other words if you are spinning clockwise, then you will spin on your right foot. There are some forms of dance where this rule is the opposite like Jazz. Balls The weight needs to be on the ball of the foot, and do not lift yourself up into a spin (leave this for ballet dancers). Balance One of the reasons a coin spins so naturally is that the centre of balance and the centre of mass remains fixed as long as the coin stays in an upright position. You should extend your arms evenly on both sides. Smooth Don't force your body into a spin, it's more of an even acceleration. Down South Looking down when you spin only makes you dizzy as you are reducing your field of vision. Suspension Keep the leg with which you are spinning slightly bent at the knee this will act as a shock absorber. Shoulders When you spin your shoulders must be effectively over your feet, try balancing on the ball of one foot on your own and you will see how you have to bring your shoulders forward to balance, well it's exactly the same when you spin.
if you still find yourself falling over when you spin try wearing a wig and dark glasses to minimise the embarrassment factor. |
